1. The Spring Driver Education List is posted in different spots in the building. If your name is on the list you MUST see Mr. McGrew.

2. Anyone not on the Spring Driver’s Education list is on the Summer Driver’s Education List. J

6. Attention Juniors and Seniors: Prom Theme for this year is “New York, New York”.

7. Junior Class meeting Thurs., Feb. 11th during advisor in the gym.

8. Buy a Sweet for your SweetThe Journalism class is selling cupcakes for $.50. Or you can be “KIST” by purchasing an Orange Sunkist for $.75 for Valentine’s Day.  You can purchase your sweets during lunch from a Journalism student Tuesday, February 9 through Thursday, February 11. The Proceeds go toward producing a better yearbook!

 

9. Girls Track Practice will start Feb. 16th. Meeting on Feb. 10th right after school. Make sure you get a white card by the 16th. Make sure you have a current physical. Check with Deb if any questions in the main office. White card attached to a GREEN CARD for the 1st day of practice, No GREEN CARD/WHITE MEDICAL CARDS NO PRACTICE.

10.   Application packets for the 2010 IA. Association of Electric Cooperatives’ Youth Tour of Washington, DC are available in the guidance office.  All expenses of chosen applicants are paid by ECI REC. Parents or guardians must be a member of East-Central Iowa REC.  Application deadline is Feb. 19th.  See poster on bulletin board in the hallway to LMC or guidance office for additional details.

11.   Girls Grades 9th & 10th: Iowa Strength & Conditioning, Strength Training & injury prevention clinic for girls. Bring Workout attire. Saturday, Feb. 13th   Cost is FREE Registration and check in is 7:00-7:45 AM, Actual Clinic runs from 8:00-9:45AM. Location Carver Hawkeye Arena. Registration and forms available in the main office from Coach Hanneman. First of its kind in the nation for free that we know of. It’s a great opportunity for all female athletes to go to this.

12.   ALL Softball Fundraiser material is due on Thurs., Feb. 11th.

13.   ALL NHS Members see Mrs. Furlong starting TODAY to pick up a bag of lips to sell. There will be a NHS meeting for ALL members Thurs. Feb. 11th at 7:30 AM in the choir room.

14.   Diabetes-Walk for a cure fundraiser t-shirt orders are due to Josh Inman Tues., Feb. 9th.

15.   Daffodil Time: List of selections in Faculty Room. Order form in Nurses Office. Will pick up Tuesday, Feb. 9th.

Seniors

17.   Sr. scholarship for students whose planned course of study is in any of the fields of agriculture and/or natural resources is due March 1. Complete and print the application at www.cdiowa.org/awards.html then turn it in at the Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District office.

   The Benton County Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners also offer a scholarship. Applications may be picked up at the SWCD office. Questions? Call 472-2161.

18.   SRS. headed to college next year: remember to do your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that you will have the opportunity to qualify for and receive student aid which may be limited.  Any questions please see Ms. Hamilton or contact the Iowa College Access Network, College Planning Center office in Cedar Rapids.

19.   Dale Schroeder Memorial Scholarship – available on-line at www.act.org/daleschroeder from January 1 through April 5.  Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and will be attending ISU, the Univ. of Iowa or UNI

20.   Scholarship and financial aid information is now available on-line at: www.legion.org/needalift

21.   VEISHEA 2010 is awarding both Leadership and Community Involvement Scholarships in the amount of $500 each and a $1000 VEISHEA Central Committee ’72-Doug Harms Memorial Scholarship to students entering Iowa State in the fall of 2010.  Applications are on-line at:  www.veishea.iastate.edu  Must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2010.

22.   Iowa Engineering Society Scholarship is awarded for freshmen at either Iowa State or University of Iowa.  Applicants must enroll in an eligible engineering curriculum, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, minimum ACT score of 24.  Applications available in Guidance Office or LMC.  Deadline is February 26, 2010.

23.   University of Northern Iowa American Marketing Association has a $500+ scholarship opportunity.  Applicants are asked to write a business plan from either a marketing or entrepreneurial standpoint about a business in their community or a non-existent one.  Entries must be postmarked no later than February 26, 2010.  Rules and application can be accessed at http://www.uni.edu/studentorgs/ama/competion.htm

24.   Darryl Jahn Memorial Scholarship will award two $2000 scholarships to Lutheran gentlemen entering Iowa State University in the fall of 2010.  Applicants will be evaluated on their scholastic achievement and active participation in their communities and churches.  Applications available in Guidance Office and LMC.  Deadline is February 26, 2010.
