Revolutionary War Test

Continue trying to pass a bill.

Monday and Tuesday (22 and 23 March)

Finish the "Pass a Bill" activity.

Homework:  One page handwritten essay:  "Why do you think that the Legislative Process is so difficult?  What did you personally learn about government from this activity?"  Due next class.

Wednesday and Thursday (24 and 25 March)

Essay due

President of the United States.  Students will choose one President to write a mini-book biography over and will play in class the Presidential Election Game linked on the 8th grade Social Studies page.

Homework:  For extra credit, play the Presidential Election Game at home with your family and write each participant's platform, major decisions, and the election outcome on a page to turn in to me (15% of your current grade).

Friday and Monday (26 and 29 March)

Continue with President mini-book.

 

NOTE:

Late homework is only accepted if you were ill or have an IEP accommodation.  This was clearly explained for our first homework assignment.  Build good habits, not poor ones.

This week students have worked with Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Tandy (High School Guidance Counselors) and Mrs. Heims to begin registering for their 9th grade classes. Monday and Tuesday students signed up for their required classes and Tuesday they identified and entered electives that they are interested in. By Friday (3/19), students need to have their course selection sheet filled out. They will also need their parents' permission (signature on the back of that sheet) before they electronically register for classes that day.

-Read (1250 pages for 3rd trimester.)

-Weekly vocabulary work is due each Friday and students now have a weekly spelling/vocabulary test each Friday.

Students will be doing notetaking, making outlines, writing rough drafts, and typing a final copy on the computer. Sources used for final paper must be properly cited. Students can also do extra credit for this project.  Our final typed paper will be due on April 1.

All band students will participate in the Band Olympics to coincide with the Winter Olympics that take place from Feb. 12-28th.  Students will choose one event in which to participate, there will be individual medals earned for Gold, Silver, Bronze.

Three performance dates are approaching for our jazz band and concert bands. 

March 6-jazz performance at NEIBA Jazz Festival. This event is hosted at our high school, middle school jazz band performs at 9:30am.  Bands will earn a Superior, Excellent, or Good rating along with soloist awards.

March 10- NEIBA Concert Band Festival at Lisbon.  7th and 8th grade concert bands will perform for Superior, Excellent, or Good rating.  Students will be dismissed from classes to attend this event.  8th grade performs at 1:20.  If  parents would like to attend and chaperone a bus, let Ms. Trygstad know.

March 25-Band Extravaganza Concert, 7pm at the middle school gymnasium. This concert will feature all concert bands in grades 6-12 for an evening of entertainment.

Students should be done with whistles and glass jewelry.  Any remakes must be done by Friday the 19th.  Currently working on watercolor dragons.  Borders should be done and dragons will be next.

Ind. Tech. Grades Online:  To check your Students progress in my class you can find their completed assignments under Hex 6.  A "1" indicates that the assignment is done.  A blank indicates nothing received.

                   

We have completed our Spreadsheet unit, and are working on the VERSACAD Program.  Students are learning that the CAD program has many powerful features.  They should be learning new tools and applications will in CAD to build on what they learned from 7th Grade.
